Oil and Natural Gas Sites
California Energy Commission, Energy Quest. An excellent site, designed for K–12 students. This site is subdivided into the Energy Story, Saving Energy, Fossil Fuels, Nuclear Energy, Energy Almanac, Alternative Fuels, Energy Scientists, Art Contests, Resource Links, and much more. Provides a section called Percy's Puzzles that contains energy puzzles, crosswords, matching, and other games suitable for elementary grades energy education. Also contains instructions for grades 4–12 science projects on electricity and renewable energy resources (hydologic, solar, and wind).
Energy Kid's Page. U.S. Energy Information Administration. Excellent site that provides facts, games, classroom activities (arranged by grade), links, and a glossary about energy, including oil and gas.
Petroleum. U.S. Energy Information Administration. Provides a wealth of information (general to technical) concerning petroleum (oil) in the United States and the World. Numerous data tables are provided for various aspects of petroleum (drilling, production, costs, etc.) by geography, product (fuel type), sector, process, prices, environment, forecasts, and analyses.
- Crude Oil and Total Petroleum Imports-Top 15 Countries. Provides current updated statistics in a table to answer the question "Where does the oil we use come from?
- Petroleum State Profiles. A summary of petroleum for each state in the U.S.
- Where does gasoline come from? A short, on-line brochure that explains how crude is found, refined, and transported for use.
Natural Gas. U.S. Energy Information Administration. Provides a wealth of information (general to technical) concerning natural gas in the United States and the World. Numerous data tables are provided for various aspects of natural gas (drilling, production, costs, etc.) by geography, product (fuel type), sector, process, prices, environment, forecasts, and analyses.
